Volunteering at the Ryedale Show
Ryedale Show is run by a team of approximately 150 volunteers. Without them the Show quite simply couldn't continue. Could you help support the show by volunteering?
Volunteering at the Ryedale Show is a great way to be part of one of North Yorkshire’s leading agricultural events, meet new people, gain valuable experience, and contribute to the success of a much-loved community event. Full training and support are provided for all roles.
All of our volunteers receive the following:
- Free entry to the show
- Access to the Member's area on show day
- Invitation to Show committee meetings
Could you help us with any of the following tasks, with just a few hours commitment for each:
Pre-show
- 🖨️Office Support Volunteer
Provide valuable behind-the-scenes support in the lead-up to the Ryedale Show by helping with a range of administrative and preparation tasks. Duties may include: Sorting rosettes; Laminating exhibitor name cards; Producing steward's booklets; Organising prize cards and exhibitor cards; Completing handwritten prize cards (clear and neat handwriting essential)
This role is ideal for organised and detail-oriented volunteers who enjoy practical office-based work and contributing to the smooth preparation of the show.
🔨Show Field set up at Duncombe Park
With evening work parties starting from Tuesday 21st July we are alway in need of more helpers, with jobs from setting up fencing, putting out signs, construcitng our information huts and setting out chairs, to putting up bunting in the member's tent, there is a job for anyone and everyone to help with! Many hands make light work...!
Show day
🙋Steward - General
Provide information and directions to visitors, monitor crowd flow, and help maintain a safe and welcoming environment across the showground. A great role for friendly and approachable volunteers.
✍️Event Control Assistant
Support the coordination of the show from Event Control by handling radio communications, logging incidents, and assisting with operational oversight. This role is ideal for organised individuals who can remain calm under pressure and communicate clearly and professionally.
🐑Sheep Steward
Assist with the smooth running of the sheep section by supporting exhibitors, judges, and section organisers. Suitable for volunteers who are comfortable working around livestock and enjoy being part of the agricultural side of the show.
🐎Horse Crossing Point Steward
Help ensure the safe movement of horses, riders, and members of the public at designated crossing points. This role is well suited to confident communicators who are comfortable working in a busy equestrian environment.
🐎Assistant to the Horse Secretary
Helping in the Horse Section Tent on show day, handing out exhibitor numbers and helping with trophies.
